If you have played For Honor, you’ll know there are a few expensive microtransactions in the game. Ubisoft has now responded to the criticisms and is listening to the feedback of players.
Anyway, Kieken said it was not Ubisoft’s intention from the beginning to allow players to unlock everything in the game easily. He said they applied RPG mechanics to a fighting game and compared it to how players unlock stuff in World of Warcraft.
He then said that the cosmetic items are like “endgame content”. They want players to play for several weeks before they are able to unlock things. He says some items are harder to obtain but they are “grind-able”.
Basically you can choose to play the game for many hours to unlock things, or you can pay real money to speed up the process. All items are cosmetic so there is not pay-to-win elements. You can view his comments below in the video at the 23 minute mark.
